Donderdag 15 februari 2018 presenteren we een muzikale Volkskeukenavond met gastheer/host Aktas Erdogan.
Aktas Erdogan is een Rotterdamse muzikant, geboren in Istanbul, Turkije. Tijdens deze avond presenteert hij zijn levensverhaal en musiceert hij samen met zijn vrienden. Aktas vertelt over zijn passie en zijn komst naar Nederland. Over de campagne die hij startte voor de vrijlating van zijn moeder uit de gevangenis. Zijn moeder, journaliste Füsun Erdogan werd in Turkije veroordeeld tot een levenslange gevangenisstraf. Mei 2014 kwam zij onverwachts na acht jaar vrij. Samen zijn ze, na haar vrijlating, naar Santiago de Compostela gelopen. Aktas: “Toen mijn moeder in de gevangenis zat, schreef ik dat ze hoop moest houden. En… als ze vrij zou komen, we samen naar Santiago de Compostela zouden lopen.
Muzeyyen, een van Belvédère’s gastkoks in de Volkskeuken bereidt een Turkse maaltijd.

Thursday 15 January next we are happy to present a special People’s Kitchen, full of music and stories, hosted by Aktas Erdogan.
Aktas is a Rotterdam musician, originally from Turkey, Istanbul. During this evening he will tell you his lifestory and play some music together with his friends. Aktas will tell you about his passion and why he came to the Netherlands. He will also tell the story how he started a campaign for the release of his mother, journalist Füsun Erdogan, who got lifelong prisontime in Turkey. May 2014 she was suddenly released after 8 years in prison. After her release the two of them walked together all the way to Santiago de Compostela. Aktas wrote his mother a letter, when she was still in prison, to never loose faith and that one time they would walk together to Santiago de Compostela when she would be free again. So they did.
